At the southeastern tip  of Lookout Cay, past the main guest areas, a small rope-assisted trail  leads to the highest point. From the top, you’ll get a clear, panoramic view  of the ocean, the coastline, and your Disney cruise ship in the distance. Getting There To find this spot, you have two options, one is to climb over the rope past the lighthouse and follow the small trail, the other and more adventurous option is from the southern most tip of the family beach, where the large Eolianite Dune Limestone formations are, you will find a rope going from the top of the Limestone down to the bottom of the rocks. The climb is short but requires careful footing . The rope provides extra support, making it easier to navigate the uneven rocks. While it’s not an official attraction, this entire area (more posts coming soon!) Are the best places to check out for those looking to explore. The View from the Top Once you reach the top, you’ll see a full ocean view , clear blue waters stretching for miles, and waves breaking against the coastline below. To one side, there’s a small rocky island  just offshore. Looking back inland, you can see the beaches of Lookout Cay and the surrounding landscape. The Nature Trail , which also serves as the Bike Trail , takes guests through some of the most untouched areas of Eleuthera. It’s a great way to step away from the crowds, enjoy the natural beauty of the island and learn more about the unique wildlife that calls this place home. Walking Through the Island’s Natural Side The trail starts with a paved path  surrounded by tropical plants and native vegetation. As you go deeper, the pavement gives way to packed sand, making it feel more like an off-the-beaten-path experience. The walk is mostly flat and easy, making it accessible for all ages. Along the way, informational signs  highlight some of the island’s local wildlife. These signs explain the role these species play in the ecosystem, adding an educational aspect to the walk. Wildlife Along the Trail Land Crabs One of the first signs talks about land crabs , explaining how they help aerate the soil and recycle nutrients. Their burrows are scattered throughout the island and you might even see one scurrying across the path. Money Bat Moth This moth is the largest in North America with a wingspan of up to seven inches. According to Bahamian legend, if one lands on you it’s a sign of good luck. Curly Tailed Lizard These lizards are everywhere on the island. They’re fast, reaching speeds of up to 15 mph and their curly tails help them escape predators. Great Lizard Cuckoo This bird is unique to the Bahamas. Locals sometimes call it the rain crow because its call is believed to predict bad weather. Scenic Views, Beach Access and a Historic Landmark As the trail winds toward the coast, the landscape opens up to ocean views  with rugged limestone formations contrasting against the blue water. There are several areas where you can step off the trail and onto the beach, making it a great way to mix exploration with relaxation. The trail also leads to some of the best parts of the island , which will be covered in upcoming posts. These areas offer the best scenery, more secluded beaches and unique features  that set Lookout Cay apart from other destinations.
